Law Student Externship - Immigration/Consumer Justice

Description – 

The Community Development Project seeks a law student extern to work on a new project focused on for-profit immigration bond companies. The extern will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with CDP’s Immigrants’ Rights and Consumer Justice teams to document the experiences of New York community members who have used bond company services and to explore advocacy opportunities to address misleading or abusive practices. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to immigrants’ rights advocacy and/or familiarity with the immigration detention and bond process are especially encouraged to apply.

This is an unpaid position.

UJC Description:

 The Urban Justice Center serves New York City's most vulnerable residents through a combination of direct legal service, systemic advocacy, community education and political organizing. Our 11 Projects assist clients on numerous levels, from one-on-one legal advice in soup kitchens, to filing class action lawsuits to bring about systemic change, to pushing social justice legislation forward.
