- Legal Fellow, Reproductive Rights and Health, DC, USA

The National Women’s Law Center seeks a recent law school graduate or judicial clerk to work as a Legal Fellow on the Reproductive Rights and Health team. This is a one-year fellowship to begin as soon as possible.

 The Organization
For 45 years, the National Women’s Law Center (NWLC) has led the way in expanding possibilities and eliminating barriers for women and girls in the United States.  One of the largest women’s advocacy organizations in the country, NWLC has played a role in nearly every major advance for women, with a well-documented track record of leading the way on issues that cut to the core of women’s and girls’ lives on the job, in school, and at home on issues critical to their reproductive rights and health and to their economic security, with special priority given to the needs of low-income women and those who face multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination.
A 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., with a staff of about 65, NWLC uses the law in all its forms; getting new laws on the books, litigating groundbreaking lawsuits all the way to the Supreme Court, and educating the public about ways to make the law and public policies work for women and their families. Funding comes from foundations, individuals, corporations, unions, and law firms.

Drafting reports, factsheets, blogs, and other written materials.
Working with national and state-based coalitions on legislative and regulatory matters.
Coordinating with Center staff and pro bono counsel to support litigation on birth control issues.
Conducting intake for national hotline, maintaining intake database and recommending database structure changes, as necessary.
Responding to hotline inquiries via email and phone, and working with senior attorneys on responses as appropriate.
Identifying, tracking, and identifying trends in birth control coverage problems or successes, to the extent needed, but no less frequently than monthly.
Assisting in hotline promotion.
Other duties as assigned.
