Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a part time Administrative Assistant 3 for Geoscience team four. This position does not provide layoff rights and is contingent upon funding. The incumbent will assist the department with a project aimed at helping foreign countries develop their geothermal energy resource base. Duties of the position include coordinating travel and logistics for various project activities in the USA and internationally; acting as a liaison for the director and program constituents; managing program finances and accounting; coordinating human resources; assisting with data collection and management; and contributing to project reporting against performance indicators to the project sponsor.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of: functions and operation of an administrative office, operation and use of word processing, spreadsheet, database management and other associated business software. The principles of supervision and training if applicable to the assignment.
Excellent inter-personal skills, well-developed communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work cohesively in a team environment.
Ability To: interpret and apply complex rules, regulations, policies and procedures to specific problems and situations; receive inquiries and resolve complaints from staff and program clientele; perform specialized duties in support of program activities; coordinate communications with other work groups, both within and outside the agency; organize, coordinate and oversee the work of subordinate staff as required to meet schedules and timelines if required by the assignment; research information from a variety of departmental and external sources; compile and update information and prepare reports related to specific program/management activities; and coordinate a variety of projects and assignments.
This is a part time position offering 21 hours per week. The final schedule can be arranged with the hiring manager and is subject to change based on organizational needs.

The Great Basin Center for Geothermal Energy (GBCGE) is located within the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology (NBMG) at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). The successful applicant will be joining a vibrant, motivated team in the GBCGE who are dedicated to geothermal science and increasing our understanding of geothermal resource potential in the western USA and beyond. The team includes students, research scientists and faculty from within NBMG, the Department of Geological Sciences and Engineering, and the Desert Research Institute.
