This recruitment will establish an eligible list to fill current and future vacancies.

Employee will be responsible for providing emergency and routine assistance and information to citizens and police officers at a police district station. Duties include; providing a high level of customer service; initiating written reports from citizens; providing fingerprinting services; conducting computer queries and generating information and results via METERS, NCIC, CAD; collecting fees for fingerprinting requests and accident reports. The employee regularly work rotating shifts including Saturday, Sunday, Holidays and may be required to work during declared emergencies.

What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?

Salary: $56,233 (Step 01) to $73,105 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.

Responsibilities
As a Congressional Liaison & Legislative Specialist within the Office of Communication and Publishing, some of your specific duties will include:

Coordinates, within the USGS, the review of draft legislation or testimony referred to the Bureau or DOI.

Assists in the preparation of USGS witnesses for Congressional Hearings.

Works with USGS managers and scientists to proactively develop briefings and meetings with Departmental and Congressional staff on USGS programs, and escorts USGS staff to these meetings.

Receives Congressional inquiries (telephone and correspondence) and assures prompt and complete responses are provided by the USGS.
Travel Required
Occasional travel - Average of 1 night a month may be required.

In order to qualify at the GS-11 level, you must meet one of the following:

-3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR

-Possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-9. Examples of experience may include: researching, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting legislative regulations and policies; drafting summary reports, testimony, and other briefing materials; and responding to Congressional inquiries and correspondence; OR

-Possess a combination of graduate level education beyond the first 2 years of progressive graduate study and appropriate experience that together meets qualification requirements for this position.

In addition to the requirements listed above, applicants must also meet the following selective placement factor in order to qualify:

-Candidates must have at least one year of experience working as a staff member serving a Member of Congress or a congressional committee of the House or Senate of the United States Congress.
