Vital Voices Global Partnership (, a leading international non-governmental organization committed to advancing women’s leadership in the areas of economic empowerment, human rights, and political participation, seeks a talented professional with strong attention to detail for the position of Intern, Human Resources.

Position description:

The Intern for Human Resources will support the Manager, Human Resources

and provide administrative assistance in all of the department’s functions. This position is based in Washington, DC and reports to the Manager, Human Resources. This is a great opportunity for an individual interested in pursuing a career in HR and seeking hands-on experience.


Providing administrative support for the Manger, Human Resources;

Providing payroll support by entering and terminating new employees and entering pay and deduction changes into the payroll system;

Monitoring changing HR and compliance regulations for both DC and the federal government;

Maintaining Personnel files and the ability to maintain confidentiality;

Assisting with Onboarding and Off boarding employees;

Assisting with the creation and management of organizational tools, systems and processes for the department;

Employee benefits management issues related to plan renewal and open enrollment, benefits enrollment and termination, troubleshooting employee benefits issues, and the customer service aspect of benefits oversight;

Providing excellent customer service to VV employees;

Providing Professional Development research and recommendations;

Other related duties as assigned.


Bachelor’s degree required;

1 – 2 years of work or internship experience, especially international or non-profit work;

Strong demonstrated interest in global women’s issues and human rights, particularly violence against women;

Excellent oral and written communications skills;

Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team is key;

Ability to prioritize tasks, swiftly shift priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, is necessary;

Demonstrated cultural sensitivity required;

Strong computer skills including MS Office applications, and social networking tools;

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;

Desire to learn about working in HR in a nonprofit setting.
