Workers’ Rights Clinic Spring 2019 Intern

The Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs (“the Committee”) runs seven Workers’ Rights Clinic every month. At these Clinics, the Committee assists approximately 1200 workers annually through referrals, advocacy, representation, and advice. The Clinic operates through the help of intake volunteers and volunteer advising attorneys. Each Clinic is an opportunity to learn hands-on about workers and workers’ rights in the DC community. The Committee seeks an intern for 15-20 hours a week to assist with the Clinics. The internship is for a minimum of 10 weeks.

Duties and Responsibilities

The selected candidate will provide programmatic and administrative assistance to the clinics, support volunteer recruitment and training, aid in volunteer management, and provide substantive, but non-legal, support to the Clinic team’s client services.


    Demonstrated interest in civil rights and equal justice
    Desire to work in a face paced and collaborative environment
    Effective oral and communication skills
    Experience with working with people of diverse backgrounds
    Strong organizational and management skills
    Ability to manage databases
    Fluency in Spanish or other foreign language (desired but not required)
